Originally the farm Rhebokkenskloof
was given to a Potgieter in 1698. In 1825 the
Cellie family acquired the farm and called it
Rhebokskloof.
Hildenbrand Estate has 3000 trees. Seventy per
cent of the trees (Frantoio and Leccino) are for
oil, and thirty percent (Mission) are for the
table. Reni pressed 1 400 litres in 2002.
Hildenbrand Estate uses organic methods of farming,
pressing and preserving olives. This is also the
only estate which produces an Unpressed extra
virgin oil, where the sheer weight of the fruit
in the mat press produces a "free run", called
tropf oil in German. Both oils are unfiltered.
The oils are sold from the farm and from distributors in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Germany, and Switzerland. Reni also makes plain and herbed table olives.
